A STOKE LANDSCAPE
This small sample image provided here of the large acrylic artwork was created to reflect the intensity of the bottle kiln ovens and chimneys over Stoke-on-Trent's rich history in ceramic manufacturing many moons ago.
The uniqueness in this piece is created by Carl and his use of palette knives and acrylics to create the ghostly ovens rising into the blue summer sky. With each stroke of the knife and the patient application of layers using different colour palettes it produces a stunning, rough and industrial finish. This particular piece was made extra dramatic using a very large canvas and containing many intricate factory designs taken from the various old black and white images years ago.
